Tips for Planning a Beach Wedding
Updated: Apr 1, 2021

Now that you've decided to plan the perfect beachside wedding, you probably think you can relax with your toes in the sand. WRONG!
Here are a few tips and tricks to consider before planning your beachy wedding:
Make sure all your guests are aware of your sand-covered destination. Let them know ahead of time so they can properly prepare by packing to dress the part.
When planning the ceremony, think about your guests and the heat. If you have older guests or young kids, consider having the ceremony later in the day.

Consider sending out a wedding day essentials list. This can include sunscreen, water and sunglasses to help keep your guests safe and comfortable on your big day or have a welcome table with the items provided for them.
When choosing your photographer, make sure they have shot beach weddings before. It takes an experienced photographer to know the different lighting techniques to get the perfect shot with the direct sun and the reflecting water.
Double-check with your wedding planner to ensure that you've secured all the right beach permits to have your wedding on the beach legally.
If you are having your wedding on a public beach, be prepared for uninvited guests to be standing around in their bathing suits watching and possibly getting in the photos.
For your bridal party, shorter skirts for your bridesmaids and linen suites or no suit jackets will keep your bridal party from getting overheated standing up with you.
